The John McMullen Show is the Desert Cities' only local mid-day talk program. Broadcast live from KNews Radio's studios in Palm Springs, John hosts a lively discussion for two hours each weekday from 10 am to 12 noon featuring guest interviews, opinion and dialogue on a variety of topics and issues from local to global.

Guests on the program range from newsmakers to homemakers, politicians to soap stars, business leaders to authors and everyone in between. John has interviewed more than 3,000 people in the past decade from all walks of life.

Each week, John has included a recurring focus on health and wellness, dubbed 'Watch John Disappear.' He is an outspoken advocate for people who've been targets of unfair or unethical business practices, as well as those who want to eliminate the waste of natural resources.

Some of John's favorite past interview guests include national leaders like General Wesley Clark, Sen. Debbie Stabenow, James Hormel, Gov. Howard Dean; writers like Paul Krugman, Andrew Tobias, Anna Quindlen, and David Bach; and, entertainment and media personalities like Harvey Fierstein, Eden Riegel, Wil Wheaton, Joy Behar, Christopher Sieber, Carson Kressley, Bob Guiney, Rebecca Budig, Richard Belzer, Joan Collins and Barbara Eden.

John McMullen is a life-long broadcast programming professional and visionary. His career began at age 12 working for a family-owned small market radio station, KAGT-AM in Anacortes, Washington. At 15, he was simultaneously interning at his first major market station, KVI-AM in Seattle, while building a non-commercial station at his suburban high school. By his senior year in high school, at age 17, McMullen was hired as the first Program & Operations Director at "The New 93FM" (KUBE) in Seattle. In 1982, John launched the Northwest Radio Network and served sports and entertainment programming to more than 40 radio stations in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Alaska.

McMullen had other stints in broadcasting, including Mutual Radio, KHVH-AM in Honolulu, Ideas In Radio in San Francisco, and the Sight & Sound TV Network in Seattle. Then, he took a three-year detour into the high-tech world where he held marketing and product development roles with Aldus Corp. (later acquired by Adobe Systems) and Real Networks. In 1997, McMullen co-founded Stellar Networks, a pioneer in online radio. There, he developed niche-audience programming services: GAYBC Radio Network (gay/lesbian); and, Athena Radio (women).

In 2002, SIRIUS Satellite Radio recruited McMullen as its first Director of News, Talk & Entertainment Programming with the objective of launching a channel similar to GAYBC. John was also SIRIUS' first original talk show host. He debuted in November 2002 on a politically progressive channel, The Buzz, with the John McMullen Show. All the while, McMullen continued to oversee the development of other talk channels and individual programs such as the David Bach Show. In April 2003, McMullen unveiled the company's first completely owned-and-operated talk channel, Sirius OutQ, on which he also hosted a daily three-hour issues-and-interviews driven talk show. John also directed, executive produced and anchored SIRIUS Satellite Radio's coverage of the 2004 Democratic National Convention in Boston and Republican National Convention in New York City.

In August 2007, McMullen joined Morris Desert Radio Group in Palm Springs, California as Director of News, Talk and Sports Programming, overseeing a group of five radio stations (KNWZ-AM 970 Coachella, KNWQ-AM 1140 Palm Springs,  KNWH-AM 1250 Yucca Valley, KXPS-AM 1010 Palm Springs, and KFUT-AM 1270 Palm Springs). These stations are the market leaders in the News/Talk, Sports, and Spanish News/Talk/Entertainment formats.

John has been featured on ABC World News Tonight, CNBC's Bullseye, CNN, CBS News on LOGO, and in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Newsweek, Time, The Advocate, and the Associated Press. In 2003, OUT magazine named McMullen one of the Out 100 for his role in launching Sirius OutQ, the first commercial GLBT network. He has also been recognized for his leadership and performance in the broadcast media as a recipient of the GLAAD Media Award and the New York Festival's Bronze Medal for News. From 2003 through 2006, John also served as a national media endorsement spokesperson for Subaru of America.
For the past dozen years, Charlie Dyer has held various talent and programming leadership positions in both music and news/talk radio.

After previously serving in the United States Navy and holding administrative and marketing positions in the healthcare industry, Charlie was the co-founder of Stellar Networks, an online radio pioneer, in Seattle. His life-long interests in music and entertainment led to his role as Vice President of Music Programming for the company. He also honed his skills in the production of talk programming at Stellar Networks' GAYBC Radio.

While overseeing music programming for Stellar Networks, Dyer was recognized with the Outstanding Radio Program award by the Gay Lesbian American Music Awards organization in 2000.

In 2001, Charlie joined Jones Radio Networks as Executive Producer for News/Talk programs and oversaw the redevelopment of a nationally syndicated overnight News/Talk show.

Dyer rejoined his Stellar Networks co-founder, John McMullen, in late-2002 at SIRIUS Satellite Radio. He was hired on as the company's first Executive Producer of Talk & Entertainment Programming. He initially worked on the live sports play-by-play broadcasts, and oversaw the production of SIRIUS' first Academy Awards and Grammy Awards specials.

In 2003, Dyer was named Executive Producer of SIRIUS OutQ, developing an evening Love, Relationships and Pop Culture program. He also took on the responsibility of overseeing music programming for the channel.

After leaving SIRIUS in late-2005, Dyer became President of Verboten Media Corporation in Los Angeles, where he oversaw the development of new talk radio initiatives for HD and satellite radio, including the Bob Guiney Show.

Charlie Dyer joined the KNews Radio team in January 2008, teaming up again with McMullen. In his role as Executive Producer, Dyer oversees the John McMullen Show, works with other show producers and manages the operations of the KNews newsroom.
